Asa Smibert earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Education and a Master of Leadership with a focus on strategy and innovation from University of Queensland.
Brother Smibert was first employed as a Seminaries and Institutes coordinator in Sydney in 2010. Since then, he has worked as a Region Director and was appointed as the Area Director in 2022. In January 2026, he was appointed to his current role as a Field Associate Administrator in Seminaries & Institute. Prior to his mission, he wanted to become a heart surgeon. However, while serving as a missionary he felt the impression that the Lord wanted him to work on hearts in a different way – and so he became a teacher.
He loves to run, hike mountains and explore new trails. As he has accepted different callings, he has learned that serving in God’s Church can transform any willing soul. One of his greatest joys is seeing the spiritual transformation that comes when someone hands their life over to the Lord.
Asa Smibert was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. Shortly after returning from serving in the New Zealand Wellington Mission, he married his childhood friend, Karen. They are the parents of four sons.
